Express 9:00 and Express 12:00 both start from the same Worldwide number below and add a fixed amount to it.
What the premium adds on an actual box
Because the premium is a flat add-on, the size of it matters more on a light parcel than a heavy one. The rows below take DHL's own published Express Worldwide export rate for two weights and two zones, then add both premiums to show what each tier actually costs against the base figure.
| Weight, zone | Express Worldwide | + Express 12:00 | + Express 9:00 (10:30 to the USA) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 lb, Zone A (Canada) | 170.53 USD | 176.83 USD | 195.73 USD |
| 5 lb, Zone C (UK/Germany/France) | 262.54 USD | 268.84 USD | 287.74 USD |
| 20 lb, Zone A (Canada) | 301.50 USD | 307.80 USD | 326.70 USD |
| 20 lb, Zone C (UK/Germany/France) | 470.48 USD | 476.78 USD | 495.68 USD |
On the 5 lb Canada row, Express 12:00 is a 3.7 percent step up from Worldwide and Express 9:00 is a 14.8 percent step up. On the 20 lb Canada row the same two premiums are 2.1 percent and 8.4 percent, because 6.30 USD and 25.20 USD stay fixed while the base rate they are added to keeps climbing with weight and distance. The flat premium is the cheapest relative jump on a heavy, far-zone shipment and the priciest relative jump on a light, near-zone one.
The faster tiers also cap the box
The premium is not the only thing that changes moving up from Express Worldwide. Each tier has its own ceiling on piece and shipment weight, and its own count of countries and territories it reaches, published in the same guide.
| Limit | Express Worldwide | Express 12:00 | Express 9:00 (10:30 to the USA) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delivery commitment | End of the next possible business day | Before 12 noon, next possible business day | Before 9:00 (10:30 to the USA), next possible business day |
| Countries and territories | More than 220 | 151 | 85 |
| Maximum piece weight | 150 lb | 150 lb | 56 lb |
| Maximum shipment weight | 6,600 lb | 660 lb | 560 lb |
| Money-back guarantee | Not offered | Offered, with additional terms | Offered, with additional terms |
A shipment too heavy or too large for Express 9:00's 56 lb piece cap can still move on Express 12:00, and one too big for both can still move on Worldwide — the premium buys speed on a shipment that already qualifies, not a way around the weight ceiling.
Why there is no printed cutoff time
A domestic overnight courier usually names one collection deadline for the whole network. DHL Express does not, because Express 9:00 and Express 12:00 are not available everywhere Express Worldwide is — the rate guide states plainly that availability “is determined by destination postcode or city name” and sends shippers to the DHL Capability Tool at dct.dhl.com, or to 1-800-CALL-DHL, rather than to a single hour. DHL Express Service & Rate Guide 2026: United States, read 2026-08-31.
That is a structural answer, not an evasive one: the deadline that actually governs a given shipment is set by when the origin service center's own linehaul departs for the day, and that departure time is different city to city. Two shippers three miles apart can be told two different last-collection times for the identical Express 9:00 product. What the mechanics of that next-possible-day commitment look like once a shipment is booked is covered on this site's DHL Express delivery time guide.
Where a live number for a specific box comes from
Everything above is the published, no-account rate card, and DHL states plainly that an account brings preferred pricing on top of it, the same as it does for Express Worldwide. This site does not run DHL's pricing tools — SMKlog sells USPS, UPS and FedEx labels for parcels moving inside the United States, and DHL Express only on the four international lanes it sells, so a checkout quote for either premium is not something this page can produce.
Where these figures come from
- DHL Express, Service & Rate Guide 2026: United States — the Premium 9:00 and Premium 12:00 add-on amounts, the Express Worldwide export rate table, the piece and shipment weight ceilings, the country-coverage counts, and the postcode-based availability note. Read 2026-08-31.
- DHL Express, Delivery Services — confirmation of the six named service commitments. Read 2026-08-31.
DHL revises this guide on its own schedule, and it states plainly that rates are not valid until DHL and the customer have signed a Letter of Agreement or other contract. Nothing above substitutes for a quote tied to an actual shipment and account.
DHL overnight shipping cost questions
How much extra does DHL charge for overnight service?
DHL does not sell a separate overnight rate card. Its two faster tiers price as a fixed premium added to that day's DHL Express Worldwide rate: DHL Express 12:00 adds 6.30 USD, and DHL Express 9:00 (10:30 to the USA) adds 25.20 USD, both per the DHL Express Service & Rate Guide 2026: United States, read 2026-08-31.
What is DHL Express 9:00 actually delivered as in the US?
10:30 AM, not 9:00. The rate guide names the product DHL Express 9:00 (10:30 to the USA) because the underlying international service commits to 9:00 in most of the countries it serves, but a shipment starting in the United States is committed for 10:30 AM on the next possible business day instead.
Is there a fixed pickup cutoff time for DHL overnight service?
DHL does not print one. Its rate guide states that availability of Express 9:00, 10:30 and 12:00 is determined by destination postcode or city name, and points shippers to the DHL Capability Tool at dct.dhl.com or 1-800-CALL-DHL rather than a single cutoff hour, because the deadline depends on that particular origin service center's own linehaul schedule.
Does the faster tier limit the size of the shipment?
Yes. DHL Express 9:00 caps a single piece at 56 lb and a whole shipment at 560 lb. Express 12:00 allows 150 lb per piece and 660 lb per shipment. Express Worldwide, the product both premiums are added to, allows 150 lb per piece and 6,600 lb per shipment.
Can I buy DHL overnight shipping through SMKlog?
No. DHL is not one of the carriers behind this site's checkout, and the premiums above are DHL's own published add-ons rather than a rate sold here. The calculator prices any stage of a US shipment that stays inside the country instead.
