What we typed
Dyson V8 cordless vacuum with attachments in original box
Naming the model and its attachments is what pins the carton down. Type just “vacuum” and the estimate has to average across every vacuum ever listed.
Meta is blunt about it: prepaid shipping labels are offered by Marketplace to select sellers. Plenty of listings simply have no label button, and sellers reported losing the option through 2025. If yours is missing, nothing is broken — you buy your own label and send the buyer the tracking number. This page shows how to price that box before you agree a price with the buyer.
27 × 11 × 7 in, 10 lb, and $26.70 on UPS Ground for the lane set out further down.
A Marketplace sale that outgrows the prepaid label is the interesting case, so on 2026-07-26 we handed the SMKlog calculator “Dyson V8 cordless vacuum with attachments in original box” along with the lane Miami, FL 33101 to Chicago, IL 60601. What follows is the raw reply, carton and rates together, with nothing tidied up.

27 × 11 × 7 in
68 × 28 × 18 cm
Packed weight 10 lb (4.5 kg).

Two live ZIPs, Florida up to Illinois. Nothing else on this page shifts the total the way that zone jump does.
That box is 27 inches on its longest side. Meta names dimensions over 12 × 12 × 12 in as one of the things that can cost a seller access to USPS prepaid labels, so a parcel this size is exactly the kind that pushes you onto your own label. Buying it yourself is not a downgrade — it is the route that has no such exposure.
| Carrier | Service | Price | Estimated transit |
|---|---|---|---|
| UPS | Ground | $26.70 | 3 business days |
| USPS | Ground Advantage | $31.42 | 4 business days |
| FedEx | Ground | $38.05 | 3 business days |
Each figure is the whole checkout total, label and SMKlog's cut in one line, with no second bill afterwards. UPS Ground led this run at $26.70, almost five dollars under USPS on the same box. Rate tables get rewritten and no two lanes behave alike, so read this table as one dated sample and price your own pair of ZIPs.
Meta's own help centre says prepaid shipping labels are offered to select sellers. It does not publish the criteria, and sellers reported losing the option across 2025. Treat the label button as something that may or may not be there rather than something you can plan a listing around.
Meta says the only carriers behind it are UPS and USPS — FedEx is never in that comparison. Meta also warns it may remove access after a high volume of orders shipped on labels that understate weight or size, and for USPS labels it names boxes over 12 × 12 × 12 in. Your own label carries no such exposure and adds FedEx.
Pack the item, ask the buyer for their ZIP code, and quote the real box before you agree a shipping charge. Marketplace lets you set your own flat shipping amount or fold it into the item price — either way the number has to cover a real label, and the same parcel can swing twenty dollars between a neighbouring state and a cross-country lane.
Five steps, in the order that keeps you from losing money on the sale.
Price follows the finished box, not the item. Pack, tape, then measure. Guessing the box before you have built it is where most shipping losses start.
Distance is the single biggest lever on the price after box size. Ask before you name a shipping figure — a message costs nothing, a bad guess costs the margin on the sale.
Run one quote with the packed size, the weight, and both ZIP codes. Compare the ground services — on the example above the gap between the cheapest and dearest carrier was $11 for the same box.
Print the label, tape it flat over any old barcodes, and drop the parcel with the carrier. Do not reuse a box with a live label still on it — scanners read the wrong one.
Paste it into the Messenger thread the moment you have it. Marketplace has no shipment record of a label it did not sell, so the tracking number you send is the only proof of shipment either of you has.
Carriers reweigh and remeasure parcels in their own network and bill the difference if you declared low. Round weight up and use the full outer dimensions of the box — an honest number now is cheaper than a correction later.
Only to select sellers — that is Meta's own wording, and it does not publish the criteria. Many listings have no label option at all. If yours is missing, you buy your own label.
Pack the item, quote the real box, buy a carrier label, print it, hand the parcel over, and paste the tracking number into the Messenger thread. You can set your own shipping charge on the listing or build it into the price.
UPS and USPS only, so no FedEx. Meta may pull access after a high volume of shipments whose declared weight or size was wrong, and for USPS labels it names boxes over 12 × 12 × 12 in. Your own label has neither constraint.
Whatever a real label costs on that route. Get the buyer's ZIP code, quote the packed box once, and state a figure you can cover. The same parcel routinely differs by twenty dollars between a short lane and a cross-country one.
Box size decides it. USPS is usually strongest under about five pounds; on bulkier boxes UPS and FedEx ground often price below it. On the live example above UPS Ground came in at $26.70 against USPS at $31.42.
No account is needed with SMKlog. Say what the item is, put in the two ZIP codes, read the live USPS, UPS, and FedEx prices side by side, and buy whichever one suits the sale. Nothing between you and the label asks for a scale, a tape measure, or a signup.
