Before the first carrier scan a label is refundable paper. After it, the transportation was sold and the money moved.
The three carriers' published void rules
| Carrier | Window for an unused label | Source |
|---|---|---|
| USPS | Unused Click-N-Ship labels are refund-eligible up to 60 days after the print date; the self-service request path covers labels from the past 30 days, and the label must never have been scanned | usps.com/help/refunds.htm |
| UPS | Void online within 90 days of creating the label; from 90 to 180 days you must contact UPS, and in its words a void will not be processed after 180 days | ups.com void-a-shipment support page |
| FedEx | In FedEx's words, "Your account is only charged when we scan the label," and a shipment can be canceled from Ship History any time before that scan; a printed label usually stays usable about two weeks | fedex.com create-a-label page |
Notice the FedEx model differs in kind: where USPS and UPS refund money already taken, FedEx account billing simply never triggers for a label no one scans. All three converge on the same practical rule, which is that the void must happen while the package stays out of the network.
Voiding a label you bought through SMKlog
Ask by email, from the order address
Write to info@smklog.com from the email on the order, or reply to your receipt, and say the label went unused. We submit the void to the carrier under its rules above and the refund lands back on the original payment method once the carrier releases it.
What our Terms commit to
Two things, stated plainly on our terms page: a paid label that cannot be created gets reviewed and refunded when none can be provided, and unused labels may qualify for a carrier void or postage refund only where the selected carrier allows it. Carrier refunds are not promised and can take time to process.
A void is not an adjustment
Carrier corrections for weight or size on packages that did ship are a separate mechanism, billed or credited after the fact and explained in our Terms. Voiding concerns only labels that never shipped at all, so keep the two requests distinct when you write in.
Void and refund questions
How long do I have to void a USPS label?
Per usps.com, checked 2026-07-27: unused Click-N-Ship labels are eligible for refunds up to 60 days after the print date, with the self-service path covering labels created in the past 30 days. A label the postage system has scanned no longer qualifies.
Can I void a UPS label after the package shipped?
No. Voiding exists for labels that never moved; once UPS scans the package the service was rendered. For unshipped labels, ups.com, checked 2026-07-27, allows an online void within 90 days of creation, a request through UPS from 90 to 180 days, and nothing after 180.
Do unused FedEx labels need to be voided at all?
Under FedEx account billing, largely not: per fedex.com, checked 2026-07-27, the charge only happens when the label is scanned, and an unshipped label can be canceled from Ship History before then. Labels prepaid through a platform still go through that platform’s refund path.
How do I get a refund for an unused SMKlog label?
Email info@smklog.com from the address on your order, or answer the receipt email, and identify the label. We pass the void to the carrier where its rules allow, and per our Terms the refund goes to your original payment method once the carrier or platform releases the postage.
