The two-day label belongs to Priority Mail in practice. Its real prices and real quoted windows are what this page documents.
The translation, then the prices
| Shipment | Route | Price | Window on the quote |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 lb box | Newark, NJ to Atlanta, GA | $14.49 | 4-5 business days |
| 1 lb box | Los Angeles, CA to New York, NY | $16.47 | 2-3 business days |
| 2 lb box | Los Angeles, CA to New York, NY | $22.34 | 2-3 business days |
| 5 lb box | California to New York corridor | $28.19 | 2-3 business days |
| Box of candles, about 6.6 lb | Newark, NJ to Atlanta, GA | $14.71 | 4-5 business days |
| Small box with binoculars | Newark, NJ to Atlanta, GA | $14.53 | 4-5 business days |
Notice the asymmetry, because it matters more than the prices. Our westbound-origin quotes carried the advertised 2-3 day window, while the eastbound lane quoted 4-5 business days for the identical service the very same morning. The 2-3 day figure is a target USPS states for the product, and lane-level estimates can disagree with it in either direction. The complete row set, including the weights where Priority vanished from our lists entirely, lives in the USPS Priority Mail rates guide.
Cheaper and stricter neighbors
Two services bracket the two-day question. Below it, USPS Ground Advantage carried a $8.48 price for a 2 lb eastbound box in our capture, worth taking whenever its longer window fits. Above it, UPS sells a literal two-day commitment: 2nd Day Air quoted $16.58 on the eastbound lane that day, undercutting several of the Priority rows while naming its speed plainly. Two-day is a shelf with several products on it, and the label on the shelf is not the cheapest thing sitting there.
Targets are not commitments
Priority Mail states a delivery aim, not a promise with a refund behind it. When arrival day carries real consequences, the products that put money behind the date are Express on the postal side or the air tiers elsewhere.
Check the window printed on your quote
Our capture proved the same service can quote different day counts on different lanes within one morning. The number attached to your specific quote outranks anything a product page says.
Two-day is often an accident of geography
Short lanes get near-Priority speed from ground services at ground prices. Before paying for the label, check whether distance already gives you the calendar you want.
The two-day questions people actually ask
Does USPS have 2-day shipping?
Functionally yes, through Priority Mail, which usps.com lists as a 2-3 day service, checked 2026-07-27. There is no product literally named 2-Day, and the delivery aim is a target rather than a money-backed commitment. Priority Mail Express covers the overnight end.
How much does USPS 2-day shipping cost?
Starting at $11 at the Post Office per usps.com, checked 2026-07-27. Our live checkout rows the same day: $14.49 for 1 lb from Newark to Atlanta, $16.47 for 1 lb from Los Angeles to New York, $22.34 at 2 lb, and $32.26 at 5 lb on the coast-to-coast lane.
Will Priority Mail really arrive in two days?
Sometimes. Our westbound-origin quotes carried the 2-3 business day window, but the eastbound lane quoted 4-5 business days for identical boxes the same morning. Trust the window shown on your specific quote over the product-page figure.
Is there a cheaper way to hit a two-day deadline?
Occasionally the answer is a different carrier: UPS 2nd Day Air quoted $16.58 eastbound in our 2026-07-27 capture, below several Priority Mail rows, with the two-day speed stated outright. On short lanes, ground services sometimes land that fast at lower prices still.
