A FedEx sign in a store window says the store can ship FedEx. It does not say FedEx owns the store or rents the boxes inside it.
What a corporate FedEx Office store actually lists
FedEx Office is the company's own retail chain, formerly Kinko's, and it publishes a services list on every store's page. The Vallejo, California location's page, read 2026-08-31, states plainly: “Services include copying and digital printing, professional finishing, signs, computer rental, and corporate print solutions.” It goes on to name FedEx shipping, holding a package at the location, packing, and Amazon returns. A mailbox, a PO Box, or any product for receiving mail on an ongoing basis is not on that list, or on any other corporate FedEx Office page we checked the same day.
That absence is the whole answer for anyone picturing a FedEx version of a USPS box: it does not exist at a company-run location. What FedEx Office sells is transactional — print this, ship this, hold this parcel for a week — not a standing address you rent by the month.
Where the mailbox rumor comes from
Search fedex.com for “mailbox” and the results are not FedEx Office branches. They are FedEx Authorized ShipCenters, local pack-and-ship stores that have applied to accept FedEx drop-offs and pickups and display FedEx's sign for it. One such location, Mailbox Services Plus in Sherman Oaks, California, is described on its own FedEx location page, read 2026-08-31, as a store that has been approved to offer FedEx services, with regular scheduled pickup times for FedEx shipments and the ability to prepare shipments on site. It is not described as a FedEx-run branch, and the FAQ on that same page never mentions a mailbox product either — only pickup, drop-off, packing supplies and help with customs paperwork.
Some of these storefronts carry “mailbox” in their own business name because pack-and-ship stores of that type commonly run a private mailbox line as a separate service, the way a UPS Store does. That business, if the particular store has one, belongs to the store owner. FedEx's role is limited to authorizing the FedEx counter inside it.
Three different boxes, three different landlords
USPS PO Box
Rented directly from USPS. Its own page, read 2026-08-31, calls it “a locked mailbox within a Post Office facility.” The address is a box number at that Post Office's ZIP, and only USPS delivers to it without a workaround.
FedEx Office
Rents nothing on an ongoing basis. It ships, prints, packs, and holds a package you send there for pickup within a set window. There is no monthly fee product for receiving mail at a FedEx Office address.
Independent pack-and-ship store
The UPS Store, PostalAnnex, and stores like Mailbox Services Plus rent a private mailbox on the store's own street address. Some of these same stores also carry the FedEx sign for drop-off, which is why the two get mixed up.
If what you actually need is a box that takes packages from every carrier, that is the private-mailbox product, not anything FedEx itself sells. PO Box vs UPS Store mailbox lays out that comparison in full, including how the address is written on each and what it costs to rent one.

FedEx PO Box questions
Does FedEx have PO Boxes?
No. A PO Box is a USPS product, a locked box inside a Post Office building, and FedEx does not sell an equivalent. A FedEx Office store page we read on 2026-08-31 lists printing, shipping, packing and Hold at FedEx Location among its services, with no mailbox or box rental anywhere on it.
Can I rent a private mailbox at a FedEx Office store?
Not at a corporate FedEx Office Print and Ship Center. Its own location page lists the services on offer and stops at packing, printing and holding a package you already shipped there โ nothing about renting a box for ongoing mail.
What is a FedEx Authorized ShipCenter, and does that rent mailboxes?
It is a pack-and-ship store, independently owned, that FedEx has approved to accept and prepare FedEx shipments. FedEx's own FAQ for one of these locations describes it as a store that has been approved to offer FedEx services, not as a FedEx-run branch. Some carry a mailbox business in their own name, but that business belongs to the store owner, not to FedEx.
How is that different from a USPS PO Box?
USPS describes a PO Box as a locked mailbox within a Post Office facility, rented directly from USPS and addressed with a box number. A private mailbox at an independent shipping store uses that store's own street address plus a suite or box line, and it is a lease with that business, not with any carrier.
Where can I actually rent a mailbox that accepts FedEx packages?
At an independent mail center: a UPS Store, a PostalAnnex, or a similar pack-and-ship business, including some of the same storefronts that carry FedEx's Authorized ShipCenter sign. The box gets a real street address, so any carrier can deliver to it, unlike a USPS PO Box.
