UPS Ground and Ground Saver, ten weights, 2026-07-27
The box was requoted at each weight step; only the UPS ground-family lines are shown here. Saver rows came back with a day estimate but no printed window, so the window column belongs to Ground. For the narrative version of UPS pricing, the piece on what UPS charges for a package covers the why behind these rows.

Both coasts tell one story with different accents. Saver shaves the middle weights, then turns sharply expensive at 30 lb and beyond, while Ground climbs in an almost straight line from $10.31 to $45.01 eastbound. The air tiers sat above all of this in the same capture: 3 Day Select opened at $15.13 and 2nd Day Air at $16.58 for the 1 lb box from Newark, reaching $131.88 for 50 lb of 3 Day Select out of Los Angeles.
The 30 lb cliff
Somewhere past 20 lb, Ground Saver's pricing model gives up on this carton; eastbound it jumped from $23.00 to $51.79 between adjacent weights. A calculator that shows all rows side by side turns that trap into a line item you simply skip.
Speed is sold in small steps
For the light eastbound box, the field ran $10.31, $15.13 and $16.58 across Ground, 3 Day Select and 2nd Day Air. That's the actual menu of urgency on one lane and one day, and it's rarely as expensive a spread as people assume before quoting.
Same service, different clock
Ground meant 3-4 business days out of Newark and 6-7 out of Los Angeles on quote day. The service name stays constant while the zone math underneath does the real scheduling, which is why the transit column matters as much as price.
UPS calculator questions
Which UPS services can the calculator return?
Four appeared across our 2026-07-27 captures: Ground, Ground Saver, 3 Day Select and 2nd Day Air, with a lone 2nd Day Air A.M. row on an oversized item at $593.89. Next Day Air never made the returned sets on these lanes, so we won't quote a figure for it here.
Is Ground Saver always the cheaper UPS row?
Up to 20 lb it was, on both coasts. At 30 lb the order reversed hard: $51.79 for Saver against $31.52 for Ground eastbound. Heavy boxes push Saver into a pricing regime where the economy branding stops being true, so read the rows instead of the names.
Will the price move between quote and checkout?
The row you pick is the amount charged. Each figure already folds the UPS label and SMKlog's charge into one total for the box you described, and there's no second bill for fuel or residential delivery afterward as long as the package matches what you quoted.
Do I need a UPS account to buy a label here?
No account with UPS and none with us. Describe the item, pick a UPS row, pay as a guest and print. The tracking number behaves exactly like one from a UPS store.
